Early Years: W/C 10.09.18
Today we all enjoyed our first school lunch in Reception. Everybody was very grown up and queued sensibly at the counter to collect their lunch. We tried very hard to remember our manners when asking Mrs Bratt and Mrs Lupton for our food. After our lunch we enjoyed another play outside on the big playground.
Today your child has brought home their PE bag so that they can come to school dressed for PE first thing tomorrow morning. Please can you make sure your child has their school uniform in their bag to change into afterwards.
Over the next few days we will be taking time to read with your child and will be giving them a reading diary and a word tub. In these early weeks the emphasis is on developing a love of books and stories so your child will be choosing books to bring home and share with you. These are books to enjoy and talk about together. You can record the reading that you have enjoyed together in your child’s reading diary. They will also bring home a word tub. This will contain your child’s name, and the names of people they are close to. They will also contain the words ‘I’ ‘am’ ‘Mummy’ and ‘Daddy’ as these are high frequency words that allow for sentence building.
More about early reading, and life and learning in Reception, will be explained at a Parents Evening in the coming weeks. Date to be confirmed, please keep an eye on Parentmail and the school website for more details.
As always, any questions please get in touch.
