News of the death of Queen Elizabeth II

Yesterday we heard the sad news that Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, had passed away at Balmoral in the late afternoon.

On behalf of our Black Firs School community, we send our condolences to the Royal Family and our thoughts and prayers are very much with the King and the other members of the family at this very sad and difficult time.

Queen Elizabeth has been an inspirational figure and a source of great stability for our country. Her strong dignified public service, generosity and moral leadership has been an example to us all throughout the many years of her long reign; it has shaped and defined the very nature of our country.

We will be holding a short assembly to share this moment with children & Staff and a minute’s silence to show our respect. Later, Black Firs will mark appropriately the Queen, her service and her long reign in more permanent ways.

In the meantime, everyone at Black Firs will observe appropriate national commemoration and mourning for Her Majesty. We will continue to be thankful for the service to the nation of Queen Elizabeth and will continue to hold our new King and the royal family in our thoughts and prayers.

God Save King Charles III
