Early Years: The end of our first week at school…

Wow! The week has flown by and we find ourselves at the end of our first week at Black Firs. It’s been a great week and the children have settled beautifully into school life.

Lunch next week

Next week sees your child staying for lunch before going home at 1.30pm. You should now have received your log in details for ParentPay and will need to book your child a school dinner, or send them with a packed lunch.

On Tuesday we will be enjoying our first PE lesson. We will be sending your child home with their PE bag on Monday and would like you to send your child into school dressed in the PE kit  on Tuesday morning. We understand that it is important that your child learns to dress themselves independently but we’d like to make the most of our session so every little helps in these early days. Please make sure that your child’s school uniform and shoes are in their PE bag so that we can change after our lesson.

Chronicle Photograph

Next Wednesday morning the photographer from the Congleton Chronicle will be coming into school to take a photo of our lovely new Reception class. Please let us know by email if you don’t want your child included in this photo. Thank you.

Timings of the day

As the children have made such a good start to school life, we will be ringing the bells at 9am from Monday so that we can do the register quickly and get on with our day. We promise not to make any more changes to peg pictures or basket labels! Thank you for your patience this week as we have tweaked our systems.

As a school we have recently launched our new school website which we hope will become our ‘one-stop shop’ for everything Black Firs! With this is mind, we will be blogging through the website. Please familiarise yourself with the school website and check it regularly for updates. We will be using this blog to signpost you to the school website whilst we make the move.

Thank you for all your support this week. We have loved getting to know your children. They have all been stars!
