Black Firs School is a member of the Congleton Multi-Academy Trust (CmaT).

CmaT was formed in February 2014 when Congleton High School made the transition from single academy to multi-academy.  In June 2014 Black Firs School became the first school to join CmaT, with Castle Primary School joining in March 2015.  CmaT has also formed The Congleton College, which opened its doors in September 2015, offering a range of vocational courses for students alongside the provision already offered at CHS.

In March 2016, the Department for Education (DfE) approved CmaT as a New Academy Sponsor. Sponsors are responsible for establishing any new academy, appointing a leadership team, governing board and monitoring performance & budgeting. The rapid and continuous growth of Congleton will require at least one new school to be established in the near future and CmaT hopes to be able to deliver that for our Town.

CmaT is committed to providing the best possible opportunities for the local people of Congleton and surrounding areas and is working hard to deliver outstanding education for students from pre-school right up to age 19.
