All our staff have attained Childcare Qualifications and a Paediatric First Aid Qualification, and all follow a training and development plan and regularly attend courses to update and improve their knowledge and skills.
What is a ‘Key Person’?
Your child will be assigned a 'Key Person'. Their role is to ensure that your child’s care is tailored to meet their individual needs, to help your child become familiar with the setting, offer a settled relationship for your child and to build a relationship with you, the parents or carers.
‘The Key Person eases children’s transition from home to nursery through purposeful, well-timed action. But they also have a crucial role in promoting young children’s learning and development once they’ve settled into their new environment.’
-Louise Jackson, EEF, 2023
Your Key Person will monitor and track your child’s progress against the Early Years Foundation Stage, this is shown through your child’s individual portfolio on Class Dojo and also their termly Spotlight.
You will have access to your child’s portfolio. Their portfolios are made up of photographs, videos, quotes, pictures of activities they have completed etc. Their portfolio will reflect their time with us at Pre-School and the progress they have made.
It is important to note that in our Pre-School even though your child is assigned a ‘Key Person’ all our staff are skilled practitioners who know the importance of getting to know all children and finding out what they know, what they can do and what they like/dislike. High quality interactions between adults and children are what we deem important.
