Here are some statements from the report which make us very proud. We are working hard to enhance the areas, as highlighted by Ofsted, which can be improved, in order to make Black Firs Primary School even better. 

Pupils love coming to the welcoming and nurturing environment of Black Firs Primary
School. 

Leaders have high expectations of pupils behaviour and achievement.

Pupils enjoy their positive actions being recognised and rewarded by teachers.

Leaders have ensured that pupils can access a wealth of extra-curricular activities.

Leaders have planned a broad and interesting curriculum that is ambitious for all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

Leaders have prioritised reading across the school.

Pupils behave well throughout the school, and low level disruption is rare. 

Black Firs SATs results in 2026:

  • 60% of pupils achieved the expected standard in reading, writing and maths (national 63%)
  • 8% of pupils achieved a higher standard in reading, writing and maths (national 8%)
  • The average scaled score in reading was 104.6 (national 106)
  • The average scaled score in maths was 103.7 (national 105)
  • The average scaled score in Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling was 105.6 (national 105)
