We employ all our own catering staff and produce a hot, locally sourced, nutritionally balanced meal everyday. The menu selection is broad and varied, from the main 'daily special' to beans on toast, all-day-breakfast or the self-service salad bar. The daily specials are changed monthly and reviewed by the children on the School Council. We are very proud of the quality of the meals we deliver and the service offered. Our School kitchen has a level five food hygiene rating from the food standards agency.

All of our fresh meat, fruit and vegetables are locally sourced. Fresh meat comes from Lane Ends Farm in Sutton, Macclesfield, and our fruit and vegetable suppliers are A & M Supplies, based on Back Lane in Congleton.

Payment

The charge for a school dinner is currently £2.50 per day, £12.50 per week. Children can have a meal on any single day of the week - they don't have to have a school meal every day. School meals are ordered through an online dinner menu, via www.ParentPay.com. Access to your child’s details requires a Username and Password, which will be created and sent home with your child as soon as they have started school. If you require school meals in the interim please speak to the School Office. Once you are logged into the system, you can book school meals on a weekly basis, or further in advance if this suits your budget. Booked meals must be paid for when booked, or the system will delete the details.More information is available on request from the School Office or via parents@black-firs.co.uk

Free School Meals

At Black Firs, children receiving Free School Meals are not distinguished from those having meals that are paid for. All meal bookings are done through ParentPay in the same way with the exception of the payment section.
The Free School Meals Team, based in Customer Services at Cheshire East Council wants to promote the uptake of free school meals for Cheshire East pupils. Their aim is to do what they can to ensure pupils who are eligible for free school meals are registered on our system to receive free school meals.
Cheshire East Council has a dedicated website: http://www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/fsm

Parents are able to obtain information on the eligibility criteria and can also make an online application. The Free School Meals Team also can be contacted on 0300 123 5012 where applicants can ask any additional queries and make an application over the telephone. They also have a direct email address that parents can use: freeschoolmeals@cheshireeast.gov.uk

Packed Lunches

Children are permitted to bring packed lunches. Please ensure that the lunch is in a plastic container with a lid, and during the warmer months, the food is kept cold with appropriate freezer packs to avoid bacterial growth on food. For safety reasons, children are not allowed to bring hot drinks to school. Canned drinks and glass bottles are not allowed in school.
